At Pennsic War

By Bird the Bard

Lyrics
Look at my life, isn't it great? All of this music that I can create
Wouldn't you think I'm the bard, the bard who has everything?
Voice like a bell, magic I spell, sure is my pride that I do it so well
But looking around me I think, sure but... it's not everything.
I've recorders and whistles aplenty, I've got guitars, bazuki galore
You want some old songs? I have 20! But who cares? No big deal. I want more!

I want to be where pavilions are, I wanna see all the banners waving
Strolling along down those dusty, well worn-in streets
Being mundane only gets me so far, I wanna be in my armor fighting
Marching along to the sound of war drumming beats
They’ll call a charge. We’ll start to run. Armor 1000º in the sun.
There I am free. Wish I could be, at Pennsic War!

What would I give, if I could live on the Serengeti.
I heard that it's hot. Heard that a lot. Don't really care!
For I do dare, to tough it out there, I am prepared to get hot and sweaty.
With men and women, in silk and linen. Ready to play!

I want to go where my people go.
Take some classes and get some answers
Sit 'round a fire and sing, I'm ready to learn!
When’s it my turn? To be Pennsic bound? With this new family that I've found!

Happy... and me!
Wish I could be
At Pennsic War.

Notes: This piece is sung to the tune of "Part of Your World" from Disney's The Little Mermaid and was written by Bird the Bard of the East Kingdom. The lyrics above are how I sing the song and differ slightly from her version. The main changes were made because I don't tend to do about "in my corset dancing." Thus, I changed a few lines in that area. If you'd like to see the original (with her lyrics), it can be found here.
