The past month has been rather quiet here in the blog, but there was quite a bit going on for me behind the scenes due to Gulf Wars. This was largely due to the number of classes I taught.
While these were all classes that I’ve taught before, the classes are all constantly being updated as I learn new things. For example, last month I learned that the Milky Way was problematic for theologians and they attempted to rename it to stigmatize it, or excluded it all together in some texts. Naturally, this was added to the Christianity and Astronomy class.
Other classes got a larger overhaul. The Here Comes the Sun class has previously been taught with Padraigin who teaches the solar astrology. However, she wasn’t attending Gulf Wars, so I needed to add half a class worth of material. This was done by including the derivation for the model.
Lastly, because this was the first time I’d taught all these classes together, in the order they were intended, I spent a fair amount of time tweaking the scripts to ensure they all flowed together nicely.
All of the updated class materials are available on the respective page.
In addition to some of my time in the past month being eaten by revising these classes, I also got hit was a hefty cold two weeks before Gulf. While it mostly abated beforehand, I spent the entire weekend prior in bed. Not much progress was done there.
While at Gulf, I was able to take some time out and read more of the Almagest, but haven’t gotten around too writing a post up just yet as I’m still thinking about how I want to illustrate some of the concepts.
Lastly, a good deal of the past month has also been taken up preparing a new project which actually launched two days ago and I’ll be making a post about shortly.
